WE'RE EMPOWERING YOUNG WOMEN
with our Toastmasters Junior workshops
In the summer of 2019, local high school girls participated in our Toastmasters Junior Art Docent program. A collaboration between our Toastmasters Junior program and the Gibbes Museum of Art, we introduced them to art and public speaking in a low-stress environment where a friendly facilitator and their peers were their mentors. In June these girls began attending twice-weekly small group workshops designed to expand their knowledge of art and history while boosting their communication and leadership skills. Then they selected a work of art from the Black Refractions: Highlights of the Studio Museum in Harlem and created a tour and presentation to deliver to their family, facilitators, and peers, along with members of the public. See a few of the photos!
That program was the second in our Toastmasters Junior series for high school girls . For the first, held in autumn 2018, we collaborated with Art Pot, the first Hispanic multicultural center in South Carolina, to offer a youth leadership and public speaking program. See some of the photos!
